Mathematics, physics, sports … Nick Constantine, 55, has various degrees and work experiences in different fields. In his diverse life, yoga has become a most important interest and profession. Years of research on sports also make his yoga class unique in Newcastle.

About 20 years ago, influenced by friends, Nick started doing yoga, and practicing yoga sense became his goal at the time. During the practice, Nick fell in love with this exercise.

In 2018, Nick completed teacher training and became a qualified yoga practitioner. And in the days before that, he was also a running trainer, training more than 1,500 people from all backgrounds. It is precisely this kind of experience that provided him with foundation and characteristics of offering yoga trainings.

During his training working period, his self brand was also established, named “soul in motion”, and has begun to attract attention on Facebook. As Nick said, “soul in motion” is a generic and transferable name. It could represent yoga, running, meditation and so on. Most importantly, it on behalf of nick himself, a person who loves sports from the heart.

As yoga becomes more popular, there are many types of yoga classes in Newcastle, but yoga class for runners is extremely rare. This is exactly what nick is good at and is doing right now.

Nick’s original thought of offering yoga training for runners was influenced by Danny Dreyer, the co-founder of Chi Running and Chi Walking, who created a revolutionary form of movement and a blend of T’ai Chi and running or walking.

Similarly, Nick considered the yoga mind and running mind are the elements just as the same thing. He reasoned that both yoga and running require practicers to keep move balance and relaxed. And training runners in yoga way could help them mentally and physically.

In Nick’s yoga workshop for runners, he always carries books and a thick note, which contains the main points of movement and yoga. This is his earnest manner to yoga and also the constant effort in the yoga industry.

In fact, yoga has become a hot industry in the West, appealing more and more practicers and practitioners. Facing both chances and challenges, Nick knows he should always be competitive and keep his “soul in motion” active.

For the future, nick has further expansion plans for his own brand focusing on yoga retreats, and also has the idea of establishing a yoga brand with friends. But he does not want to make this a big business ignoring the quality of teaching.

Just as Nick said: “I want to keep yoga teaching as a hobby in my life rather than developing it to be a full time business. Hobby is fine.”
